Accessorizing in Style: Traditional Bedrooms

You chosen your color scheme and furnishings, and your bedroom may stand alongside a hotel area. But you don’t want a hotel room. This is the reason why accessories are so significant.

Accessories are rarely purchased all at one time. Often they are a combination of old and new — they add character to your room and say just as much about you as the colors and style you have selected. However, don’t underestimate their significance in styling or in practicality. A mismatched or incorrectly placed piece could destroy the look you have been trying to reach or hinder your daily use of the space.

When you have a conventional bedroom, then consider vintage-inspired accessories and fabrics rather than chrome and high gloss. Go for crisp white cotton sheets with a statement throw and matching cushions, sparkling crystal and pretty blossoms, classic mirrors and light, and definitely some classic rugs.

1. A lavish chair. When you have the space, be sure to have a comfy chair to escape to when chaos reigns elsewhere in your home. I adore the way the stripes used below reflect the light.

Stripes are a good choice for conventional styling and neutral colors suit both men and women. Stripes and florals were produced for one another, therefore add a pretty floral cushion in matching tones and you’re going to have a place you adore.

2. Extra mirrors. Mirrors are a practical necessity in any bedroom, but try to believe creatively when placing them. The mirrors above the bedside tables reflect the light in the window and will also look pretty when the bedside lamps are on. If your room isn’t very wide, they will also add depth.

3. A posy vase. No conventional bedside table is complete with no posy vase. Fill it with fragrant sweet peas or easy country garden blossoms, and they will make certain to lift your spirits when the alarm goes off.

Here, the timeless silver vase looks excellent, but I prefer a simple glass vase, as it grabs light beautifully and goes with anything. Yard sales and flea markets are excellent hunting grounds for purchase antiques.

4. Private treasures. Your bedroom ought to be private to you, so make sure you display some of your cherished keepsakes. The glass dome on the bedside here could be used to get a favorite decoration, or perhaps blossoms from the first bouquet your love ever purchased you.

5. Bedside classics. Bedside books are accessories in their own right. I’m not suggesting you only read attractive books, but pile a couple of old classics carefully chosen from a classic bookstore, and you have a gorgeous arrangement.

6. A structured wall lighting. Wall lights conserve space in your bedside table for that pile of classic novels. Remember to keep everything in scale though — those would look lost on a big, blank wall above your bed.

7. Above-the-bed art. With no huge, elaborate headboard or an architectural feature, odds are you will want something above your bed. Pictures are fantastic, but you should be sure they are themed. I like totally spaced symmetrical structures (rows of three job very nicely), which match with conventional styling perfectly.

Random shapes, sizes and frame types can also appear good, especially if you’re striving for a more rustic feel, but they’re more difficult to get right. Just make sure you keep with a theme and keep the spacing equivalent.

8. Something playful. I love to add a touch of humor to my styling, and accessories are the perfect car or truck. This fish cushion makes me smile. You might also use a image that introduces an element of fun.

10. A textured carpet. A rug is a fantastic way to add texture into your strategy — especially with a solid wood flooring — but choose carefully. This classic style is perfect for the conventional bedroom.

Whenever you have a room piled with gorgeous architectural features, do not overdo it with accessories. This room strikes the correct balance. The gorgeous wrought-iron balcony, darkened wall and chandelier need little other than the compulsory glass posy vase and stunning floral rug to produce traditional chic.
