Elegant Home in Texas

Elegant Home in Texas

If you combined the elegant feel of Mumbai and Manhattan and place the 2 cities on a remote lot with an ocean view, you would get Naveen and Reema Shroff’s San Antonio, Texas, home. After residing in four distinct houses over six decades, the couple was eager to repay. “When we sold our previous house, we sold each piece of accessory and furniture, right down to the image frames and candles. We basically moved in with our baby and some clothing,” says Reema. Starting with an entirely blank slate, they appreciated the assistance of HGTV “Design Star” Trent Hultgren of Cabana Casa.

“My husband and I love weekend getaways, and I absolutely love boutique hotels,” Reema states. “I always wanted a house that looked like a stylish hotel with a cool, inviting lobby and relaxing nonetheless sexy bedrooms.” Hultgren came up with an ocean-inspired colour palette, focusing on blue, purple, coral and white to transform their suburban house into a dreamy resortlike getaway.

“My favorite place in the house is my living room. It features a huge chandelier, gray velvet sofas and a lotion shag rug. It is the perfect relaxing place where we spend time together with our friends sipping on Champagne,” says Reema. In the corner is a wine fridge, and glass floating shelves showcase glassware. The sofas are from Jonathan Adler, and Hultgren additional cerulean and yellow decorative throw pillows as colorful accents. The light fixture is by Santa Maria.

“We’re tired of the Tuscan and Texas-ranch-style decoration in the houses in San Antonio, and we liked this house because it was spacious, bright and airy. The previous homeowners were from Hawaii, and it was the perfect base for our style,” states Reema.

Reema and Naveen watched black and white iridescent crystal rocks at a few hotels and were inspired to eliminate the conventional wood and generate a stylish and elegant outdoor seating area. The limestone fireplace surround is first to the house.

The solution to jumble of Reema? Moving! “We moved houses so frequently we were somewhat forced to toss or donate items. My husband is really a minimalist and totally detests knickknacks. Additionally, we’ve got a three-year-old and we really try to maintain her toys contained to the game room and her bedroom,” says Reema.

The kitchen features a Sub-Zero refrigerator and Thermador appliances. The clean and contemporary pendant was found by Reema lamps online.

Reema enjoys juxtaposing modern elements with interesting textures. She paired this gray marble Saarinen table located on eBay using sturdy contemporary chairs upholstered in burlap.

Hultgren painted wide horizontal stripes on the hallway walls, resulting in the media room and bedrooms.

In the master bedroom, Hultgren kept to some white, turquoise and metallic palette. “At first, my husband was really nervous to see as much turquoise in our bedroom, but then after Trent put it all together, ” he loved it,” states Reema.

Reema’s largest design issue was deciding exactly what to splurge on. “My main splurge was lighting. The very best information Trent gave me was to remove the ceiling fans in the bedrooms and also include gorgeous lighting instead. It instantly changed the appearance and feel of their bedrooms,” she states.

Hultgren hand-painted the accent wall using a stencil to add a custom feel to the space.

Hultgren introduced a dim colour scheme to the media space, creating a more intimate feel for family movie nights.

The backyard is full of lush greenery, adding to the home’s tropical feel. While the backyard is already in great condition, Reema and Naveen would like to revamp the pool and include a lounge place. “We’ve got a pool with cascading waterfalls, but I would like to make the whole backyard seem like a tropical oas,” Reema states. “Maybe add some tented, shaded regions, firepits and much more places to lounge and relax.”
