How to Use Fireplace Ashes for Tree Fertilizer
If you are looking for a way to recycle your fireplace ash, use them as a fertilizer amendment for the soil surrounding your trees. Wood ash is actually filled with potassium and, such as lime, raises the pH of your land. If you visit your nearest gardening center, you will even place ashes being sold in bags. It is important, nevertheless, that you never use wood ash on junipers and evergreen trees, as they prefer soil that is more acidic.
Test the soil surrounding your trees. Soil test kits are sold at gardening centres and may also be obtained from local county extension offices. Wood ash shouldn’t be used on a soil pH of 7.0 or greater.
