Get your monthly fix of food, fashion and design finds in the Windy City’s yearlong Dose Market. Spend your Sunday surfing the modern halls of the River East Art Center as it comes home with over 30 vendors and dealers selling everything from artisan chocolates and biscuits to vintage eyeware and tabletop accessories. Watch what quirky Agent Gallery attracts this month (I am digging the quotation marks above), and what fancy menswear store Apartment Number 9 has in store for your fashionable hunk in your lifetime. Afterward, get a dose of spring in the Chicago Flower Show, occurring March 10–18. See how anglers interpret high fashion into new display gardens celebrating this year’s “Hort Couture,” theme. Participate in seed swaps, potting parties, edible backyard workshops and much more.

FLOWER SHOW — March 21–25, 2012
San Francisco Flower and Garden Show
San Mateo Event Center, 1346 Saratoga Dr., San Mateo, California

Whether you’re green thumbed or just have two twiddling thumbs searching for something interesting to do, check out this year’s San Francisco Flower and Garden Show. You may store all day for flowers, rare plants, orchids and other offers from over 200 exhibitors, plus learn how to grow edibles and hear out of Ahmed Hassan of the DIY Network’s Yard Crashers. Celebrity chefs, such as Greens Restaurant’s Annie Somerville and Martin Yan will do demonstrations.

Architectural Digest Home Design Show
Pier 94, 55th Street at 12th Avenue, New York City

Get a one-on-one consultation with a top design professional or just network with industry professionals in this year’s thrilling four-day event at Pier 94. More than 400 exhibits include works by designer Brent Comber (photo), tablescapes from DIFFA’s Dining by Design and fresh home furnishings. This season marks the 25th season of WestWeek, the Pacific Design Center’s biggest annual design industry event. Events include a discussion by Architectural Digest‘s Margaret Russell on “Trends in Interior Photography” along with a discussion about “The Rise of the Rock Star Designer” with HGTV’s David Bromstad along with Antonio Ballatore, Bravo’s Martyn Lawrence-Bullard and Kathyrn Ireland. LEGO Modern Home Design Competition

Tap into your inner kid (and architect) to construct a version of an original homemade entirely of LEGOs and motivated by iconic California midcentury modern architecture. Dwell has combined forces with Pacific Standard Time for this fun contest letting your imagination and sense of scale run free. The top five entries will be chosen by you, the design community, and will likely be on display at Dwell on Design, June 22–24, 2012. A panel of judges will pick the grand prize winner live from the show floor. Input.
