Removing Lipstick From Walls

Removing Lipstick From Walls

Lipstick that comes into contact with a wall is most likely going to leave a mark. The earlier you work on its cleanup, the larger the likelihood of success, before the pigments become a part of the wall surface. Eliminate as much as possible with dry therapy procedures, like scraping and wiping with a paper towel.

Scrape, Dab and Wipe

Lipstick leaves a waxy residue behind, which means at least some of it might be taken out by hand without any cleansers needed. Use the side of a plastic gift card or basin of a plastic spoon to scrape away a thick blotch of lipstick, working from the edges of the stain toward the center to avoid spreading it. Wipe and lift some of the lipstick using a dry paper towel or cotton swab, again wiping from the edges toward the center of the stain.

Oily Residue Removers

After removing up to the lipstick as possible, care for the wall using one of two household materials to scrub the residue away. Employ a non-gel white toothpaste directly over the lipstick, or dab a light dish soap on the lipstick using a cotton swab. Permit either material to sit for 10 minutes or so, then wipe off with a slightly damp cloth, working from the outside edges of the stain toward the center. Follow up with a brand new damp cloth to remove the soap or toothpaste. Examine the chosen cleaning substance first in an inconspicuous area, especially if the lipstick is on on level paint, which does not hold up well to water.
